My husband and I started talking about building our “forever” home last June. We met with a couple different builders and found some plans that we wanted to make our own custom plan. We ended up working with Phil Steger, Steger Construction. He was amazing and very laid back. Which was great during what could be a very stressful process. A lot through the house including the drop zone, fireplace mantel and cabinets and the kitchen island were all ideas we found or drew up and he custom created them all for us. We are so pleased to have one of a kind creations just for us.
After starting with the plan and making it custom for our family and our needs, we decided on our lot which is a little over 1.14 acres. It is within a newer development about 3/4 a mile from town. It is far enough away to be quiet, but close enough to get into town quick. We are in LOVE with our land.
We nailed down our house plan by September and we broke ground October 10th! We kept this process low key because we were still trying to sell our current home and didn’t want to jinx the whole thing. So most people were surprised to hear we were moving from our old home into our new one.
We relied on our Lord to take the wheel and lead us in the right direction. Thankfully after 10 months and many stressful days praying we SOLD our house and finished our new one in the knick of time. We had FAITH and everything worked out perfectly. We couldn’t be happier.
I have to say being a designer. This was a dream come true. I loved being able to pick out everything. I have to say I was pretty impressed and surprised that my husband and I have the same taste and style. This made the process FUN and EXCITING. We got to pick absolutely everything through the whole process. There wasn’t a time that I felt overwhelmed at all. Not to mention to have a budget and get to go and pick everything out and spend a large chunk of change at once. That will never happen like that again :) It was kind of like having a shopping spree! Even tho we will be paying for it for the next 30 years ;)

I will be featuring other posts after we get settled and moved in more. We are still in the unpacking mode. We have made some work on the inside and out. I can't wait to share it! Stay tuned for some interior decorating ideas for every budget :)
